Level 2 NVQ in Construction and Civil Engineering Operations (Construction) - Groundworks
The Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Construction and Civil Engineering Operations qualification provides a nationally recognised qualification for existing workers and new entrants to the Civil Construction Industry, working in the specialised area of ground works operations.

The qualification has been developed for achievement in a real workplace environment, which means you will need to be employed to undertake this qualification.
The qualification enables you to demonstrate your skills, knowledge, understanding and competence so you can work in the Construction and Civil Engineering operations sectors.
You will be assessed against a set of performance and knowledge statements which have derived from National Occupational Standards. You will be assessed by an occupationally competent and qualified assessor whose job is to work with you.

Level 2 NVQ structure:

Option 1
The qualification will develop knowledge and skills in areas such as conforming to general health, safety and welfare, and conforming to productive working practices. Learners will also specialise in installing, maintaining and removing work area protection and safety equipment.
​
This qualification then offers a choice to cover either of the following areas:

installing drainage or
-
placing and finishing concrete

Option 2
You may choose to take a more specialised pathway, and we also offer level NVQ's to cater for this.
​
With this option, you will also learn key practical skills and knowledge in mandatory units, but then chose your further optional units to create your own personal pathway from within the options below:

1) Kerbs and Channels - Laying Preformed Kerbs and Channels in the Workplace
​2) Excavation and Reinstatement - Forming and Finishing Excavations Manually in the Workplace
​3) Concreting - Erecting and Striking Proprietary Formwork in the Workplace
​4) Construction Operations - Moving, Handling and Storing Resources in the Workplace

Can You Complete This NVQ Online?
No, unfortunately, you can't complete this NVQ online. Once you sign up for the course, we will work with you to make sure you're meeting the intended learning outcomes. We will come to your workplace and observe you in action, actually performing your job. We will have informal discussions with you to assess your understanding of the tasks at hand.

What Are The Entry Requirements For This Qualification?

You must have access to a workplace where you can go and perform tasks for us to help you to produce a portfolio of evidence. This portfolio is particularly required by the internal and external quality assurance teams.

Although it’s not a strict requirement, it’s still advisable for you to be at least 19 years old before you enrol on this qualification.

When Should You Expect To Complete This Level 2 NVQ?
There is no set time frame for finishing this qualification. It all depends on how quickly you can put together a portfolio of work-based evidence. We will work with you and guide you through every step of the way and making sure you achieve the learning outcomes. Your NVQ could be completed within 4 - 8 weeks.

Pass the qualification (Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Groundworks Operations).

Sit a CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test.
